UPDATE: Coronavirus Closure Announcements – 3/24/2020

Dear Congregants,

As we continue to navigate the waters of “social distancing”, the B’nai Board of Directors wants you to know that we continue to be concerned for everyone’s wellbeing. We have put in place the following precautions to assure we all stay healthy and still connected during these next few weeks:

  • The synagogue building and Gift Shop will remain closed until the end of April. We will re-assess the situation in view of the latest information as we get closer to the end of next month.

    • Anna will be working very limited hours. You can leave a message on the synagogue answering machine and she will return phone calls as soon as she is able.

  • We have cancelled all in-person services, programs and classes until the end of April.

    • We are now streaming Kabbalat Shabbat services at 6pm.

    • Streaming for the morning minyan begins on Thursday, March 26th for Rosh Chodesh and will continue to be streamed on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30am.

    • Rabbi Dov will stream an abridged musical Seder on April 9th. Details will be forthcoming.

    • Need access to the virtual services and on-line adult learning? Keep checking the Rabbi’s Weekly Message, This Week at B’nai E-blast and the B’nai Website for up-to-date instructions on connecting to the livestream, Zoom, YouTube and/or Facebook.

    • Please bare with us. This is a learning curve for all of us, and we are getting better every week.

    • Many programs will be rescheduled once we know that it is safe to gather again.

  • Committee meetings are now being held remotely through ZOOM. Access info will be sent to Committee Chair to share.

  • Gourmet to Go is now offering a Seder-to-Go option for the Seder nights. You can order on-line at [email protected], or call Sharon directly at 505-872-2421.  See the flyer in the April Shofar or on our website for details.

    • If you are planning on tuning into Rabbi Dov’s virtual Seder on 2nd night of Passover and need a Haggadah, don’t worry. We will be giving away Haggadot on request with your Seder-to-Go order. There is a four-copy limit, so that we can make them available to as many families as possible who need them. Please let Sharon know how many you need when you place your order. This Haggadah is what you’ll need if you are planning to participate in the virtual seder.

  • The most exciting news of all is that we have created a synagogue phone tree that will allow us to reach out to all congregants on a weekly basis to check in and see how people are doing. You will receive a phone call from one of our Board members or volunteers within the next day or so. Please take a moment to chat and let us know if you need anything.

  • Finally, we have come up with a creative way to hold our Annual Meeting this year while staying compliant with the bylaws. You will find detailed information in both the Shofar, and in a special mailing that is going out the first week of April.

I will continue to keep you informed as we cope together through these challenging times. Take care of yourself, take care of your loved ones, and stay connected in whatever way you can!  We want to hear from you.
