Shavuot Campout

June 11 @ 3:00 pm - June 13 @ 10:00 am

Free

Congregation B’nai Israel is hosting a Shavuot Campout on the nights of June 11 & 12. Participation is FREE. The plan is as follows:  Anyone who would like to join is welcome to pitch their own tent and bring their own camping gear to stay a night or two at the Cedro Peak Campground.  Please bring all supplies you will need – sleeping gear, flashlights, headlamps, and all the food & water you will need for your stay.  Each family or individual is responsible for bringing their own vegetarian food for the potlucks that will occur.

On June 11th, we will gather in the mid-afternoon, and set up camp.  Between 5pm-9pm we will have assorted activities geared toward those who want to learn for Shavuot and all ages, arts activities, songs, and of course a campfire with smores! People can duck in or out of the planned activities, participating as you and your family are comfortable.  This is an ALL-AGES activity.

In the morning of June 12th after breakfast (time pending), we will have a semi-traditional Shavuot service in the woods where we steep ourselves in the tradition of this harvest holiday.

Please come for as much or as little as you would like.  Cedro Peak is only 25 minutes from B’nai Israel.  Feel free to come for an hour or stay all night.  Cedro Peak Campground is a fully-accessible wheelchair campsite, but it is always helpful to be prepared for inclement weather (coats in cold temps) and bug spray.

After the service on June 12, organized activities will end, but informal groups will go on hikes or sit and listen to the sweet sounds of the mountains.  Feel free to stay the night of the 12th also, even though our formal plans will have ended.
