Chanukah is a joyful occasion for families and friends to gather together and celebrate the victory of light over darkness
The holiday is celebrated with a big feast, special Chanukah songs, and the menorah lighting
The menorah lighting is the most significant of all Chanukah traditions. Every evening, people light one candle until, on the last night, the menorah is fully illuminated
Another holiday tradition is the gift giving of chocolate coins to children, who use them as prizes for the dreidel game
Eating various fried treats, such as jelly doughnuts and fried potato pancakes is yet another important tradition meant to celebrate the Chanukah miracle
